WORLD'S SHEEP
PROPORTION IN EMPIRE REVIEW OF PRODUCTION LONDON, July 27 The Empire Marketing Board has issued an elaborate 200-page statistical survey of Empire and foreign production of wool. It estimates that tho world's sheep population is 800,000,000, producing 3,500,000,0001b. to 4,000,000,0001b. of wool annually, of which 1,500,000,0001b., including the world's best, comes fi;om Australia, South Africa and New Zealand. After reviewing tho production and prices over tho past 40 years the repoit says there has been no exceptional increaso of the sheep population and wool production in recent years. The Empire has maintained its share of sheep at onethird, and wool production at half tho world totals. Tho Empire wool export trade is two-thirds of tho world's. There is no abnormally largo accumulation of stocks T>f raw wool in the principal exporting countries, and no large stocks have accumulated in an effort to maintain. prices, while proposals to restrict ealea to stabilise prices have beep vigorously opposed.
