FOUNDATION STONES LAID.
THOUSANDS IN HYDE PARK. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received July 19, 8.33 p.m.) SYDNEY, July 19. With simple but impressive ceremony the foundation stones 'o? the Anzac Memorial Building were laid this afternoon. 1 One stone. was, laid by the Governor, Sir Philip Game, as a soldier, and the other by the Premier, Mr. B. S. Stevens, as a citizen.
Fifteen thousand peoplo gathered in Hyde Park for the occasion. Representatives were present of soldier and civilian organisations, the State Ministry and the churches, excepting the Roman Catholic Church.
The memorial will stand 100 ft. high when completed, 'llie cost will be about £70,000.
