THE WRITERS' CLUB.

In tho absenCo of Mrs. I. M. Cuett, president of tho Writers' Club, Mrs. Ryburn presided, and introduced Mr. Strong, who gave a most interesting talk upon musical instruments. The Symphony Orchestra, with SO to, 100 players, was a picture in tone colouring, he said. Tho speaker illustrated each type of instrument with a gramophone record. Afterwards records of massed instruments by one of America's most famous symphony orchestras were played. The Traviata prelude, illustrating tho massed 'cello and violins/ was > much enjoyed, also the " Carnival of the Animals," and other selections. On behalf of the members Mrs. Ryburn heartily thanked the speaker for his instructive talk.
