NORTHCOTE AFFAIRS.

HOSPITAL BOARD LEVY. A motion regretting the necessity for the Auckland Hospital Board to increase its levy this year was passed by the Northcoto Borough Council last evening. Northcote's levy had been increased by £37.

It was decided to receive a deputation from the Newmarket Council at tho next meeting on the apportionment of water board costs, although the Northcote Council is unanimous that it is not liable.

The opinion was expressed that no advantage would result if the constitution of the War Memorial Museum Council were altered, as suggested by the Birkenhead Council, so as to entitlo tho North Shore boroughs to elect at least one joint representative. The present system of representation was considered fair and equitable to all local bodies. Tho State Advances Office advised, in reply to a demand for water and sanitation rates on a property which had reverted to the Crown, that it rns forwarding the money within a few days. The council decided to continue its passive attitude toward all matters affecting the North Shore refuse destructor. A suggestion from the Devohport Council that a protest should be made against the action of the Mayor of Takapuna in dismissing one of the employees at the destructor was merely "received."
