WORKERS' DWELLINGS.
GFIEY LYNN SETTLEMENT.
FUFI;THER CONCESSION MADE.
Aftur considering the position of those purchaser.! of municipal workers* dwellings at Grey Lynn wfio have not forfeited their properties, the City Council decided last evening to make a further concession to thism for three years, after which the mattfir vail again be reviewed. The decision is subject to the consent of the Auditor-General.
Th«i piffchasers of 18 out of the 60 houses lately applied to the council for a mate rill reduction in the purchase pricem so as to bring them into line with present values. Failing this,, they offered to stirrer der the properties and sacrifice their equities and improvements. Hairing taken the advice of the city solicitor, the Property Committee recommended that in addition to the concession of 15 pei.- cent, in payments of principal and interest which the council had granted in Atignut, 1930, a further allowance of 15 per cent, be made from April 1, 1932, to March; 31, 1935, the mortgagors to be credited with the full amount of principal and interest for the period. It was proposed that the concession be conditional on prompt payment. This report was adopted without discussion.
