A wave of banditry continues throughout Britain. A Portsmouth bank clerk was carrying a bag containing £23,000 in broad daylight when a motor-car containing four men pulled up. One jumped out, snatched the bag and re-entered tho car, which sped away, later attaining a speed of 60 rniles an hour. An elderly bank messenger, who was accompanying the clerk, jumped on the running-board of the escaping car, but he was knocked unconscious. The stolen bag actually contained 23,477 banknotes. The street was a busy one. This is Britain's biggest street robbery.
