AUSTRALIAN STOCKS.

WEAKNESS IN LONDON. EFFECT OF LANG'S POLICY. LONDON, April 23. The Financial editor of the Sunday Times says the renewed weakness in Australian stocks l's causing anxiety. Apart from the question of exchange, investors are disturbed bv the apparent inability of the Commonwealth Government to prevent Mr. Lang damaging the country s credit by his repudiation talk. The writer says it is permissible to hope that the Commonwealth Government will in. the end be master of its own house and be in a position to overrule the unorthodox plans of the heads of States foi whose financial obligations it has made itself responsible. " Otherwise, he states, "I could not advise investors to retain their interests in Commonwealth sccuiilies."
