April 20. The New South Wales Legislative Assembly resumed this morning. With dramatic' suddenness, an hour and fl-half later, the Premier. Mr. «T. T. Lang, moved an adjournment until to-morrow, giving no reason. This surprised everybody. The. opposition demanded a reason but the closure was applied. Tile House rose with considerable speculation regarding Mr. Lang's plans, and with not a little anxiety. j The Sydney Daily Telegraph says secret, plans for constituting the State Treasury a, bank on which cheques can be drawn for the payment of Governmental, accounts have been drawn up and are at present in the possession of Mr. Lang. The paper adds that special legislation will be necessary to put it into operation, as it is virtual inflation. Is T AME DISGRACED. FEDERAL LABOUR PARTY. NO COMPROMISE WITH LANG. SYDNEY. April 26. / A statement defining the attitude of the New South Wales branch of the Federal Australian Labour Party, issued on behalf of the executive, says:—"The New South Wales branch of the Australian Labour Party finds it necessary to declare that tfiere can be no unity or compromise with the Lang dictatorship which, although it has successfully deceived and intimidated thousands of honest Labourites, has disgraced and dishonoured the name of the Australian Labour Party by its conduct and administration." Argument before the Privy Council in the case of the appeal by the Government of New South-Wales on the question of the abolition of the Legislative Council Tvas concluded to-day. Judgment was reserved. The case was commenced on April 12 before Lords Sankey, Blaneshurgh. Hanworth, Atkin and Russel of Killoweu. Counsel engaged in the case are For the appellants: Sir Richard S.
