SPEED RECORD ATTEMPT.
NINETY-MILE BEACH. INTENTIONS OF MR. SMITH. Advice that he hoped to attack about Saturday one of the three speed records he is seeking, was received yesterday from Mr. Norman Smith by Mr. H. J. Butcher, chairman of the Auckland Automobile Racing Club, Limited. The official party, including members of the racing club and Mr. Kelvin Cuff and his staff, will leave Auckland on Thursday morning, arriving at Awanui North in the evening. Mr. Smith plans to attack first the world's ten.
kilometres and five miles records, and on the following - day the one-mile record.
