The official opening of the Opotiki Golf Club's season was held on Saturday. There was a record attendance of members. The links were opened formally by the president. Mr. E. A. Bunkall. and the first ball was driven by Mrs. W. Smith, lady captain. Forty-eight players participated in a mixed foursome. Following were the best cards:— Mrs. A Davies and J. O'Sullivan, 33 net; Miss Burt and Duff, 38: Mrs. Birkmyer and C. Black and Miss J. Wilson and A. Davies, equal, 39. THE RUSSELL CLTJB. NEW LINKS OPENED. [BY TELEGRATH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] RUSSELL, Tuesday. The opening of the Russell Golf Club's new links at Oronga, three miles from Russell on 111e new main road to Whangarei, was held on Saturday. Over 50 people were present, when the club president. Dr. Tarrant Hoskins, drove the first ball. The course is one of nine holes. The greens are already in good order, in spite of the ghort time available for their pieparation. it having been decided only recently to move to Oronga from the old links at Waitangi. The use of part of the old residence of tho American Consul, dating from the early days of Ivororareka, has been granted as a clubhouse.
