ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.
CHATHAM CUP COMPETITION. NEW SELECTOR APPOINTED. DISQUALIFICATION OF PLAYERS. Notification that the entries for the Chatham Cup competition would close on May 2 was received flora tho New Zealand Council at last evening's meeting of the control board of tho Auckland Footßall Association. The fOJncil stated that it had decided to allocate ttie amcunt of £SO toward any deficiency ir.iurrcd in the play of the semi-finals ard final, providing satisfactory arrangements are made with major associations for lees chargeable on grounds, such amount to be divided on a pro rata basis according lo the distance a team may have to travel. Supporting a recommendation from the senior division committee the board decided to write to the council asking that the closing date for entry in the Chatham Cup competition be extended until later in May. With regard to the Auckland-Navy representative fixture, it was resolved to write to tho Navy requesting that the match be played on June 3 instead of Juno 4, owing to the association wishing to continue its competition games on the latter date. Regret was expressed at the resignation of Mr. D. Corbett from the position of sole selector to the association. Mr. A. E. Backhouse was appointed to fill the position. The Northcote Club wrote stating that there was very little chance of any team being entered in the association's competitions this season. Considerable regret was expressed at such an old club threatening to become defunct and Mr. Ritchio was appointed to investigate the possibility of the club altering its decision. The question of disqualifications in ono coda being recognised in other codes was raised. It was resolved to endeavour to get the support of other sports bodies in the matter.
