INTEREST RATES.
Sir, —I wish to draw attention, to tha fact that the clause stating that interest is not to come below 5 per. cent, on land security and per cent, on stock, etc excludes the Crown from having to gi v I any relief t6 soldier settlers and other Crown mortgagors. The Prime Minister states that the Crown is giving more relief than other mortgagees, ftow this is not a fact. Through being a soldier settler with arrears, I can state clearly that all the Crown is doing is to postpone arrears, which is only increasing the burden and giving no permanent relief. We pay 6 per cent., including J per cent, sinking fund, and receive no relief, while the private mortgagor pay. ing 6 per cent, shall receive 20 per cent reduction. Now is this fair? Soldier Sett leu.
