NORTHCOTE AFFAIRS.
Economy in ;he use of water was urged by the North Shore Water Board in a letter to the Northcote Borough Council at, its meeting last evening. The letter pointed out the fall in the level of Lake Pupuke and the need to conserve the supply. The council was not favourable to the proposal of the Mount Albert, Council that, local bodies should be empowered to apply the Government's proposed refund of stamp duty on local body debenture coupons to a rebate for promptly-paid rates. It was considered that any rebate should be made available to all ratepayers.
