OBITUARY.

MR. W. P. McELHONE. AUSTRALIAN CRICKET PATRON. SYDNEY April 22. The death has occurred of Mr. W. P. McElhone, a former Lord Mayor of Sydney. The late Mr. William Percy McElhone, M.8.E., was born at Sydney on December 22, 1870. He was educated at St. Aloysius College and became a solicitor in August, 1898. He was an alderman of the City of Sydney for many years, and Lord Mayor in 1922. Mr. McElhone was president of tho New South Wales Cricket Association and a trustee of tho Sydney cricket ground.- He founded the Australian Board of Cricket Control. He was ft member of the Rod Cross Society for sick and wounded soldiers. He represented Australia at the Olympic Conference in 1926.
