OUTBREAKS OF FIRE.
DAMAGE IN THE NORTH. DESTRUCTION OF DWELLING. [by telegraph.—own correspondent. ] •WHANGAREI. Friday. A five-roomed house in View Road, Hikurangi, was destroyed by a firo which occurred early this morning. Thero was no water available and practically nothing was saved. The outbuildings, which stand well back from the house, were saved.
The only occupant was the owner, Jiljr J. Thomason, a single man. Particulars of insurance are not available.
Early this afternoon fire broke out n» the fibrous plaster factory occupied bv Messrs. Gardner and Bourke in First Avenue, "Whangarei. The flames were confined to the back portion of the building and the fire brigade effected a smart save. The damage done is estimated at about £IOO. No insurance was held by Gardner and Bourke on their stock. The building is owned by Mr. L. W. Nelson, of Whangarei. HOME AT MANGERE. ALL THE FURNITURE LOST. A four-roomed house in Kirkbride Road. Mangere, owned and occupied by Mr. Babich, was destroyed by file yesterday morning. All the furniture* and other contents were lost, including £l4 in notes. Mrs. Babich, with her two young children, was in a near by paddock when the fire occurred. Nothing could be done to save the building, which was quickly demolished.
