UNEMPLOYMENT LEVY.
INSTALMENTS NOT PAID.
FINE IMPOSED ON OFFENDER
An admission chat ho had failed to pay two instalments of the unemployment levy was made by CI arles William Richardson in the Magistra e's Court yesterday. Mr. G. F. Grijve, who appeared for the Labour Department, said Richardson had made a written statement, in which lie claimed to have overlooked making payment. He denied attempting to avoid his obligations. All arrears had now been paid.
Counsel said Richardson had been without employment for a considerable time, but was now the proprietor of a small shop.
The magistral.e, Mr. W. R. MeKean, imposed a fine of 10s and costs, on one charge, and ordered the payment of costs, 10s, on the other count.
