ANZAC DAY CEREMONY.

OBSERVANCE ON MONDAY.

SERVICE IN TOWN HALL. GATHERING AT CENOTAPH. DETAILS OF ARRANGEMENTS. Anzac Day is the anniversary of the landing of the New Zealand forces at Gallipoli, but its true significance is its observance as the day set opart to honour (ho Dominion's war dead, whether they fell on tho ridges and hillsides of Gallipoli, on the sandy plains of Palestine or on the battle-scarred fields of France and Flanders. On Monday tribute will be paid to their memory in ceremonies which will have for their chief featuros simplicity and proud remembrance. A commemorative service will be held in the Town Hall at 11 o'clock on Monday morning, the Mayor of Auckland, Mr. G. W. Hutchison, presiding. Archbishop Averill, the Rev. J. Iliddlestono and the Rev. G. T. Robson, M.C., naval chaplain, will officiate. Seats will be reserved for nextrof-kin, ex-servicemen and their wives and families and veterans. Admission is by ticket. Cenotaph Arrangements. In the afternoon, the annual service will bo held at tho Cenotaph on the Court of Honour in front of tho War Memorial Museum. A procession of exservicomen drawn from all brandies of the forces, will march from the junction of Park Road and Grafton Road to the Domain, entering tho Court of Honour at about 2.35. The designation of the various units in tho procession will bo announced as they arrive. At 2.50 the various naval and military representatives who are taking part in the ceremony will arrive and they will be followed five minutes later by the official party. At three o'clock, the Municipal Band will play the National Anthem and the "Old Hundredth" will be sung. After tho "Last Post" has been sounded the flags on the Cenotaph will bo lowered. Tho hymn. "Abide With Me," will bo sung and the "Reveille" sounded, and then the flags will be hoisted again. The National Anthem will be played for a second time and the official and other wreaths will be placed at the foot of the Cenotaph. Finally an announcement will be made, through the amplifiers, giving instructions to the general public as to tho procedure for filing past the Cenotaph. Services for Children. The usual services for secondary school children in tho Town Hall and for the general public in the military section of the Waikunicfe Cemotcrv will be hold during tlio afternoon. The various services in outer suburban districts will also be held. The primary schools of Auckland lifia their own observances of Anzac Day yesterday, as for them Monday will bo a holiday. Special parades were held at the schools yestorday at which the National Anthem was sung, the flag saluted and addresses given by returned soldiers or prominent citizens. Wreaths were also placed on school memorials, but on Monday a special wreath, purchased through penny donations from scholars, will be laid on tho Cenotaph. The Soldiers' Graves Committee of the Victoria League, has made 599 laurel wreaths fo bo placed on soldiers' graves at the Waikumete and Purewa Cemeteries. Large wreaths have also been mado t n be placed on the C enotaph and on tho war memorial at 'Waikumete. Inquiries have been made of late from the Returned Soldiers' Association by next-of-kin of those who fell in the war, asking if they are permitted to wear tho medals and decorations of dead soldiers on Anzno Day. The president. MajorGeneral Sir George Richardson, has stated that thevo is no regulation to prevent tiiem from 1 doing so, but those wearing these decorations should wear them on tho right breast.
