COMFORTS FOR THE CAMPS.

Sir,—Would it not be fitting for all the women's societies in Auckland to combine in an organised effort to provide the men in relief camps with socks and winter underwear? Men who are striving to hold their place in the working world under present conditions and making the best of what is offering are much in the position of soldiers, and soma general effort might well be made for their health and comfort. As knitting is too slow to bo of immediate use, and is wasteful where no proper facilities exist for its washing, I would suggest that a depot be opened for the collection of used socks and underwear, which could be repaned by working bees and sent to the different camps. Literature might also be collected and sent at the same time. A.W.
