YESTERDAY'S SALES. RETURN ON INVESTMENTS. Following is a list of yesterday's transactions on Now Zealand Stock Exchanges. In the second column is given the return, based on the hist annual dividend, from investment at the quoted price. In the case of Government and other redeemable securities no return is given, in view of the new method of quotation, but the months in which interest is duo pre shown. In calculating the returns on shares in companies which pay their dividends outside New Zealand exchange rates, being liable to fluctuation, have not, been taken into consideration. On (lie Sydney Stock Exchange to-day business was inactive and there was a further decline in Commonwealth bonds. Banks and industrial shares were without appreciable change. Sales of 4 per cent, bonds were:—l93B. £95 7s 6d ; 1941, £94 3s 9d; 1944, £9l 8s 9d; 1947, £9l ss; 1953, £9l: 1955, £9l 2s 6d; 1959, £9O 2s 6d ; 1961, £9O 12s 6d. Oilier sales were:—Bank of Xew South Wales, £2B 10s; Commercial Bank of Sydney, £ls 10s: Colonial Sugar. £43 ss; Burns-Philp, 40s; Australian Glass, 35s 6d; Tooth's Brewery, 25s 9d; Touhey's Brewery, 16s Dunlnp Perdriau, lis; Winrlu ombe ('arson. 13s Dill Proprietary, 15s 7^d; South Broken llill, 425; North Broken Hill, 61s Zinc Corporation, 26s 6d. GOLD AND SILVER. QUOTATIONS IN LONDON. (Received April 21, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON', April 20. Gold is quoted to-day at £5 10s an oz.. compared with £5 9s 3d yesterday. Silver is quoted afc 16|d nn oz. spot, and 16 13-16 d forward, compared with 16 9-16 d and 16 7-lbfl yesterday. The quotation for silver at per standard ounce is 16jjd and at. p<T fine ounce 18 l-16d, compared with 16 9-16 d and 17 7-8 d yesterday.
