THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE. FAIR VOLUME OF BUSINESS. A satisfactory volume of business was transacted 011 the Auckland Stock Exchange yesteiday, when there was a finning tendency in most sections. Government securities changed hands freely at advanced rates. Tho 1936 5j per cent, bonds were released 20s higher at £9B 10s, more being sought 5s higher nt £9B ss, with holders quoting £99. There was a sulo in 1933 per cent, bonds 15s higher at £9B. .Tho 1930 per cent, stock was sought 2s 6d higher at £94 2s 6d, but holders remained firm at £95. < Tho 1937 s' a per cent, stock was secured 10s lower at £95, and thero was a sale in the 1933 SJ, per cent, stock unchanged at £9B. Tho February issue of tho 1937 si, per cent, stock was again sought at £9B, but, for the September issue, buyers wero willing to pay 5s higher at £9B ss. A sale took place in the latter 10s higher at £9B 10s, at which price more wero available. Sellers wero prominent in local body debentures, and a parcel of Mount Roskill, 1960, 52 per cent, debentures was released at £9B 10s. There was a slight variation in levels in banks and two sales wero effected on a higher basis. For Commercials of Australia, offers declined 2d to 13s 9d, and holders responded with a reduction of Id to 14s Id. After an early sale 12s 6d higher nt £24 12s 6d, New South Wales eased, and closing offers were reduced 5s to £24 ss. There was a sale in New Zealands 3d higher at 43s 3d. For more , buyers again offered 435, while holders advanced 6d to 43s 9d. In other sections a sale in Wright, Stephenson, preference, took place at 14s 10£ d. Two lots of Auckland Gas were secured 6d lower at 20s 6d, and closing offers were 6d lower at 20s. Offers for Colonial Sugars advanced 20s to £3B, holders being quoted .at £39. Wilsons Cement were released unchanged at 25s 9d, holders subsequently quoting 3d higher at 26s 3d. A sale in Waihis unchanged nt 16s 7d was followed by offers 5d higher at 16s Bd, but quotations also advanced Id to 16s lid. Grand Junctions were again quoted at 3s 9d, and offers were raised Id to 3s 7d. Offers for Mount Lvells showed a rise of 2d to 18s 2d and quotations recorded a similar rise to 18s Bd.
