DEMAND FOR COMMISSION. RELIEVING RATING BURDEN. Dissatisfaction with the failure of the Government to appoint a commission to inquire into local body expenditure was expressed at tha meeting of the Council of tho Auckland Chamber of Commerce yesterday. Tho president, Sir. A. M. Seaman, presided. Tho council decided to support tho Associated Chambers of Commerce in urging the Government to delay no longer in setting up tho promised commission to inquire into the wholo system of local body administration in order to relieve the burden on ratepayers. Alternatively, tho Government was asked to retain the services of tho National Expenditure Commission to conduct tho investigation and report.
