REDUCTION OF INTEREST.
Sir,—Recently I have invested nearly £300() from England in New Zealand s::ock and in municipal bonds, placing implicit confidence in the honesty of the good-natured people here, with whom I have spent nearly 20 pleasant years. On hearing of possible restrictions on sending money to England (where t have dependants), and of the imposition of a tax which would, directly or indirectly reduce tlie interest the Government* etc.* have solemnly contracted to pay, J f e ]£ uneasy, and cabled to my agent in England to remit no more of my money to me here till further instructed. Could not the Government effect the sume end as the. one J have in view hy a re-quer-t to (he stockholders voluntarily to agree to a temporary reduction of the 10 ;r»er cent, on interest ? S.mai r.
