PURCHASE OF SHINGLE.
DISPUTE OVER AGREEMENT. EVIDENCE FOR THE DEFENCE. The dispute over an agreement for the taking of concrete shingle from the beach at Takatu, on the mainland opposite Kawau, was continued for a sixth day before Mr. .Justice Smith in the Supremo Court yesterday. The plaintiff, William Julius Ilvde, of Takatu, claimed £670 which lie alleged was due to him under an agreement for sale and purchase of crete shingle which he had made with the defendants, J. J. Craig, Limited, Winstone, Limited, Alfred W. Bryant, William McCallum and Archibald McCallum. The morning was occupied with tho hearing of the expert evidence of Greville Walker as to tests and strengths of a large number of samples of sands and shingles produced, and of concrete blocks. He estimated the total amount cf concrete shingle on the Takatu beach at 800 yards. Other expert evidence on strength of materials and value of various samples taken from the beach was given throughout (he afternoon. The casn will be continued to-dry.
