CRICKET ECONOMIES.
CUT IN PROFESSIONALS' PAY. Essex, in common with many other coun'y ciickct ciulis in England, has had to ask its professionals to accept a cut in pay. In the case of Essex it will be. 15 per cent., and it will come into effect when the season begins, says an English paper. Willi certain ground staff economies as well, this will mean a saving of over £4OO. Considerable reduction in expenditure in other directions is also to be made, and it is hoped that a saving of nearly £IOOO will be effected during the year. As this wa s about the amount, lost last season during a notoriously bad summer, the club's financial future appears promising.
