Richards, late of Morning, ton, Dunedin, lias been installed as minister of St. Paul's Methodist Church, Cambridge, in succession to the Rev. J.. W. Parker, who has been transferred to Warkworth. Mr. J. M. Smeeton, son of Mrs. H. M. Smeeton, returned by the Maunganni yesterday after completing his studies at Cambridge University. • He intends joining the interdenominational Kwato mission in Papua.
Commissioner J. Cunningham, head of the Salvation Army in New Zealand, left for Putaruru by motor-car yesterday. Colonel L. Taylor, chief secretary, and Colonel F. Burton, field secretary, left for Wellington by train last evening.
Mr. H. E. Hughes, of ' Bury St. Edmunds, London, arrived by the Maunganui yesterday on a visit to tha Dominion. He will devote a portion of h'3 stay to trout-fishing at Taupo. Ha is accompanied by Mrs. Hughes snd Miss Hughes.
Mr. D. H. Hare, of Melbourne, Mr. C E. Forrest, of Sydney, Mr. G. D. Gillanders, of Canterbury, Mr. R. Foi, Mr. T. F. Gilmore and Mr. 0. H. Green, of Wellington, Mr. R. White, of Bulls, and Mi*. W. Magwick and Mr. E. A. Mahonev, of Nga'tea, are at the Central Hotel.
Surgeon-Commander A. G. Bee, R.N., -who arrived by the Rangilata from London on Saturday, is taking the place of Surgeon-Commander Gunn, of H.M.S. Diomede. For the last two and a-half years he has been attached to the South Africa Station of the Royal Navy. *
Captain F. C. Steed, formerly stationed with his regiment in Baluchistan, and for the last three years attached to tha British Embassy in Tokio, Japan, arrived by the Maunganui yesterday on ft visit to relatives in the Dominion. H» will visit England before rejoining hii regiment in India.
