EARTHQUAKE RELIEF.
TIME FOR APPLICATIONS. FINAL EXTENSION ANNOUNCED. [BY TELEGRAPH. —SPECIAL REPORTER.] WELLINGTON, Monday. As applications for assistance under the Hawke's Bay Earthquake Act are still coming to hand, although the closing date for such applications was fixed as February last, tho Minister of Finance, Hon. W. Downie Stewart, announced this evening an extension of timo to April 30. This step is being taken to afford the opportunity of having these applications dealt with and the work of the rehabilitation committee in this connection definitely finalised, explained the Minister. Applications will be accepted until the end of this month where a valid reason is givc.i for delay in making them. It is to be distinctly understood that this is tho last extension which will be granted.
