TWO AUSTRALIAN CASES. BOY AND A YOUTH. Laurence William Bowkett, aged 10 years, the son of Mr. H. Bowkett, of Yenda, New South Wales, "in the irrigation area, was struck by lightning on April 2 and killed. Bowkett, accompanied by two other boys, was searching among grape vines for a pet magpie* which had strayed during the storm. A vivid flash of lightning struck Bowkett to the ground, but the other boys were not injured. In a violent storm which passed over Darriman and Giffard, Victoria, also on April 2, Kenneth Gooding, aged 17 years, son of Mr. and Mrs. F. Gooding, of Giffard, was killed by lightning. The youth fcas carrying a hammer arid nails to mend a leak when the lightning struck him. He was taken in a motor-car to the Gippsland Hospital at Sale, where it was found that he was dead.
