KINDERGARTEN FAREWELL.

A social evening and dance for the purpose of honouring Miss F. Robertson, retiring director of the Otahubu Free Kindergarten, was held in tho Public Hall, Otahuhu, on Friday evening. The hall was specially decorated for tho occasion with streamers and flowers, and tho words, " Au Revoir " were artistically inset at one end of the hall. There was a largo company of parents of children attending the kindergarten and friends. Music was provided by Webber's orchestra, and items were given by Miss Robertson, Mr. Basliam and the. children. During the evening the Mayor, Mr. 11. T. Clements, presented, on behalf of the Parents' Club, a handsome silver tea service suitably inscribed. Ho referred to tho splendid service which Miss Robertsou had devoted to the kindergarten as director and secretary of the parents' committee during the past threo years. A bouquet was also presented to Miss Robertson by the Mayoress, Mrs. Clements. In acknowledging the honours Miss Robertson, who is retiring on tho occasion of her marriage, referred to the assistance she had at all times received from the parents' committee, (he ladies' committee, and the parents generally. Mr. A. Pilcher, chairman of the parents' committee, who was in charge of the programme, also spoke. The •lectric lights failed during the first part of the evening but other lighting was improvised, and an enjoyable evening followed. Among those present wero: The Mayoress, Mrs. H. T. Clements, and members of the ladies' committee, namely, Mcsdames W. Nicld, Montgomery, Smith, Simons, Jackson, Warrington, Bath and Kemp, and Miss Marshall and Miss Robertson.
