Clangor improved to show his real form in tho maiden race and won well. Traymela led to the straight, where ho began to 6top. Clangor finished stoutly to wear down Reno Belle. Tbornproof was a fair third, with Traymela, Midnight Echo and Chatter On all well up. Clangor was always going well and was a better horse for his raco on tho first day. Tbornproof was a trifle unlucky in not getting off too well. Traymela improved, but did not Quito sea it out,. Gold Sand, favourite for tho Waipipi Handicap, did not get a good run, being checked more than once, otherwise she may have won. At tho same time. Orby's Choice was always going well in behind tho leaders, Tavora and Trader Horn, until asked for a final run. It was again left to Flower to chase tho winner home, but ha held her off fairly comfortably. Tho Second High-weight produced a great finish. Midnight Echo, having his second run of the day, endeavoured to win all tho way, but the field closed up in tho run homo. Full Mark, on tho outside, just got up to win narrowly from Manuiri, with Balloon and Midnight Echo almost in lino. Tho pace was much slower than on tho first day. which probably contributed to tho presence of Manuiri and Midnight Echo in the finish. Otherwise tho form as bebetween Full Mark and Balloon, was very true.

I'ewa. made every post a winning ono in the Opaki Handicap and in a fast race was just headed of! by Rational 11. at. tho end. Shrewd and Chopiu followed l'ewa in tho running, with Statuary and Rational 11. next. The order was tho same info tho straight, l'ewa ran out wide, but ho had a, clear lead, however, until Rational 11., finishing very solidly, got up to wear him down. Chopin finished handy on tho rails, and Joio de Val was rloso up fourth. Then came Statuary, Shrewd. Atho'.spear and Foghorn. Rational 11. finished very well and is back to his best form. Ho started favourite. Pewa. whoso wind is not too sound, woidd probably have won had ho kept, to tho rails coming into the straight. Chopin had every chance, but Joio do Val was well back early and not too happy in a position on the rails. As a matter of fart, Chopin and Rational Tf. were the only two who ever looked like having chances with I'ewa. The open sprint furnished one of the best finishes of the meeting. Orapai made the pace, but Imperial Fame and Moa Bird came solidly at him and at tho post there were just sufficient margins to declaro by. Historic was outpaced. CAULFIELT) MEETING.
