HOMESTEAD BURNED.

ABSENCE OF OCCUPANTS. OUTBREAK NEAR TE AWAMUTU. [FROM OUR OWN- CORREPPOXDENT. 1 TE AWAMUTU, Fridny. A seven-roomed homestead at Mangapiko, five miles from Te Awamutu, owned and occupied by Mr. Harold Hey, was completely destroyed by fire late on Wednesday evening. Tho occupants were attending a concert in tho Public Hall a few hundred fards away when the outbreak was discovered. An endeavour was made to save some of the contents, but tho fire had too great a hold. The cause of the fire is unknown.

The insurances amounted to £975 on (lie building, contents and outbuildings.
