WOMEN IN CLUBLAND.
ANOTHER STRONGHOLD FALLS, & " EVERYTHING MADE BEAUTIFUL." 3 Another London stronghold ol men in Clubland has fallen to the feminine invaders. After holding out. much longer than several other big clubs, the Junior Constitutional, Piccadilly, is now opening "ts doors to the wives and women friends of its members. The secretary, Mr. C. W. -Eldridge, said recently: " Members can now bring women to tea and dinner at the club on Fridays, and to luncheon, tea, and dinner on Saturdays and Sundays. We have transformed one of our finest rooms —the morning room —into a special dining room and lounge for the benefit of the women, the lounge being divided from the dining room. " We have made everything as beautiful is we can for the fair visitors. There are charming loose covers on the chairs and settees, and we have introduced other feminine touches such as little, softshaded lamps on the tables and flower 3. " The effect is already noticeable. For some time past the . club—like most of the other big clubs—has been feeling the pinch of the financial crisis, and although we have not lost so many members as some of the other clubs, it is a fact that we have been' serving a great many more luncheons than dinners. " Now, however, there are distinct signs that the old habit of dining at the club is to return. The admission of women will, we believe, prove a great success."
