MANUREWA FUNCTION.
There was an attendance of over 130 card enthusiasts at a five hundred tournament held in the Manurewa Public Hall on Thursday evening. 'J he function was oi ganised by the Manurewa and Manukau Unemployed Workers Movement to raise funds for relieving distress m the district and well-merited public support was accorded the effort. During the supper interval the president, Mr. J. Smith, expressed appreciation of the assistance given by all concerned, and emphasised the value of the relief which would be provided as a result. Pii/es were awarded to the lour ladies and four men securing the highest aggregate of points, these being, m order of merit as follows Mrs. l b ITogan (J akanmi,: Mrs. T Wall. Mrs. Stubbs. Mrs. |> Peebles Messrs. W. Eaglet on, k. Grtb|lor,s J. Colletl, and G. Webber (equal).
