YESTERDAY'S SALES. < RETURN ON INVESTMENTS. Following is a list of yesterday's transactions on Now Zealand Stock Exchanges. In the second column is given the return, based on tho last annual dividend, from investment at the quoted price. In the case of Government and other redeemable securities no return is given, in view of tho new method of quotation, but the months in which interest is duo aro shown. In calculating the returns on shares in companies which pay their dividends outside New Zealand exchange rates, being liable to fluctuation, have not been taken into consideration. EE VIEW OF THE WEEK. ACTIVE TRADING CONTINUES. QUIETER TONE AT CLOSE. There was an increase in the aggregate business transacted nil the Auckland Stock Exchange during the past week and fluctuations in prices, following the announcement of the Goverment's Budget proposals, left a slightly easier tone, especially in per cent. Government loans. Dealing in fcheso securities has been restricted since Easter. On the other hand per cent lionds and stock closed with a firmer tendency. The bank section remained quiet, with limited business. New Zealands were done, at 43s 6d, an casing of 3d. Commercials of Australia made 13s lid early in the week and closed easier. South Wales were released 17s 6d cheaper at £24 and Unions held steady at £6 15s. The only dealing in insurance was in South British, which fell to 48s 4£d and 48s 9d. After business at 21s 6d Auckland Gas shaded to 21s. Interest in breweries was centred in New Zealands and Staples. There was a transaction in the former 3d cheaper at 235. There was more inclination on the part of holders to release miscellaneous investments and this section provided, a large proportion of the turnover. Levels were almost generally slightly lower than those ruling prior to Easter, but on the whole values were steady at the lower rates. Colonial Sugars moved favourably with an advance of 2s 6d to £36. Wilsons Cements fell' 3d during the period, to sell at 265. The feature of the mining section was an appreciation in Waihis, in which dealing was recorded up to 16s 6d, a rise of 6d. since the Easter holiday. Grand Junctions were also firmer and after business at 3s 7d, holders were asking 4s at the close.
