STOCKS AND SHARES.

THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE. STATE LOANS FLUCTUATE. Support for si, per cent. Government loans weakened on (he Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday following the announcement of the Government's financial proposals. If anything, holders showed less inclination to trado and there was a general diminution in turnover compared with other days since Easter. Following an advance of 5s in offers for 1938 4£ per cent, bonds to £93 ss, holders dropped their price a similar amount to £93 15s without completing any business. For 1937 5.} per cent, bonds (Feb-ruary-August) buyers lowered their bids 5s to £96 10s and by a similar amount to £96 15s for tho September-March issue. Both issues of 1937 SJI per cent, stock were sought 15s easier at £96. Dealing took place in 1938 per cent, stock (May-November) at £93 ss, an advance of 15s on tho last sale, which was recorded before Easter. A fall of 15s occurred in 1936 5£ per cents. (FebruaryAugust), which changed hands at £96 ss. In debentures Auckland Harbour Boards were taken twice unaltered at £IOO. Slightly unsteady conditions ruled in banks, in which a number of lines in demand tho previous day failed to find support. Offers for most of the issues sought were a shade easier. Unions were done again at £6 15s and subsequent quotations were reduced 2s 6d to £6 17s 6d. Other sections showed little movement. Colonial Sugars had sale equal to late rates at £36 and more were wanted at £35 15s, which is 5s firmer than the previous day's offers. Wilsons Cements were released again at 265, -at which price there was a demand for further supplies. The principal change in mining was a slackening of interest in Waihis, which were sought 2d cheaper at 16s Bd. They were firmly held at 17s.
