MOUNT EDEN BOYS' BAND.
A SATISFACTORY YEAR. Much enthusiasm was shown at the annual meeting and prize distribution of the Mount Eden Boys' Band. There was a largo attendance of parents of the boys. The statement of accounts showed a credit balanco on the year's operations and a balanco of assets over liabilities of £520. The building fund showed a credit of £4l. Gratification at the progress of the band since its foundation in 1929 and at the healthy condition of its finances was expressed at the meeting* The existing committee, which consists of Messrs. A. J. Wakefield, E. F. Akersten, R. Taylor and 0. Jones was reelected and Mr. J. Brailey was elected an additional member. Mr. H. Bransgrove was re-elected honorary secretary and treasurer. Mesdamos B. Brailey, E. •Tamieson, L. McConnell, IST. Hill and E. Bishop were elected to form ;i JaHies' committee. The award of merit for most progress, in the form of a silver medal given by Mr. .T. Mortimer, was presented to B. Taylor, solo cornet ist. Three silver medals for improvement, givon by the bandmaster, Mr. 0. Marsh, were awarded to L. Bishop, W. Johnson and H. McCarthy. Prizes for races in the band sports at Motuihi were also handed to the winners.
