ADVENTUROUS CRUISE.
THE KETCH WATER LILY. MEMBERS OF THE CREW. The 42-ton ketch Water Lily, which left Lyttelton 1 ast week on the first stages of an adventurous cruise to islands of the Pacific and wherever the fancy of her crew may then decree, is expected to leave Wellington to-day or to-morrow for Auckland. The crew are all old boys of Christ's College. The captain, Mr. S. Gerrard, on leaving school, was for some time at College House, Christchurch, before going up to Oxford (Brasenose College) in October, 1927. While there he gained his Blue for fencing. He finally came down at: the beginning of 1930 and for a year was. in London, where he edited a fencing magazine. Then he decided to return tc> New Zealand, crossing the Atlantic on the 50ft ketch Hearts of Oak, at the beginning of 1931. The venture came to n.n end,, after a successful crossing, when the ketch was wrecked on the Barbadoes. Mr. W. J. Harris, another member oIE the crew, after leaving Christ's College, returned to the school as a master. Ho was a student at Canterbury College and went up to Oxford in 1926, coming down in 1929. On his way back to New Zealand he had an adventurous time in Canada, whero ho worked in lumber camps. On his return to New Zealand he again secured a position on the teaching staff of Christ's College and was house tutor at School House until ha resigned at the end of last year. The crew includes one journalist, Mr. L. W. P. Reeves, who was for three years on the staff of the Sun (Auckland) and who thereafter worked *or on* year on tho Christchurch Press. Mr. P. A. M. Williams was a student at Canterbury College and a member of its athletic team. The remaining members of the crew are Messrs. F. St. J. Parson and J. K. Atkinson.
