PROVINCIAL TOURNAMENT. MATANGI RETAINS CUP. [from ourt own correspondent.] CAMBRIDGE, Tuesday. Tho Auckland Provincial Polo Association's annual tournament was opened today at. Bardowio, Cambridge, in fine weather. Tlio attondaneo exceeded 1000. Results of the first round of the Junior Cup were as follows:—Mntansi B defeated Alatiwuala by 10 coals to 3, Cambridge C defeated Mntantri C by !! goals to 1, Matangi D won from Wailiou by <lefault. Only two teams entered for Iho Provincial Chip. Matanai A and To Awainutu A. Matam:i won a line carnn by five goals to four nfler • xlra lime had been played. Mntnnai thus retains the trophy. Tlio tournament will bo continued throughout the week.
