With the deciding of the tennis championships, the inter-university tournament ended to-day. Canterbury College's clear victory in the tennis matches gave it a nine-point lead over the Auckland University College in the competition for the Tournament Shield. Victoria College is third, and Otago University, with eight points, becomes the first winner of the new wooden spoon. Points were gained as follows:—Canterbury, Auckland, 15£; Victoria, 11|; Otago, 8. RESULTS IN TENNIS. FAILURE OF AUCKLAND. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The inter-university tennis shield played for to-day was won by Canterbury College with four events. Victoria College won one, and Auckland and Otago nil. Following are the results:— Men's Singles.—Semi-final: 11. H. Barnett (Canterbury) beat J. J. McCarthy (Victoria), 6—2, 6—4; R. McL. Ferkins (Victoria) beat J. 11. Griffiths (Canterbury), 6—o, 6—o. Final: Barnett beat Ferkins, 6—2, 6—2.

Men's Doubles.—Semi-final: H. H. Barnett and H. S. P. Andrews ((Canterbury) beat J. E. Stedman and J. P. Glenie (Auckland), 6—l, 4—6, 6—3; B. A. Barrer and E. H. Adkins (Canterbury) beat W. B. Gosnell and J. J. McCarthy

(Victoria), 6—3, I—6, 6—2. Final: Barnett and Andrews beat Barrer and Adkins, 6—4, 6—l.

i Women's Singles.—Semi-final; Miss L. ; Roberton (Auckland) beat Miss G. Calver , (Otago). 6—l, 2—6, 6—l; Miss M. H. Line (Victoria) beat Miss R. Taylor : (Auckland), 5—7, 6—4, 6—o. Final: Miss Roberton beat Miss Line, 6—2, 3—6, 6—3.

Women's Doubles.—Semi-final: Misses M. Line and C. Longmoro (Victoria) beat Misses J. C. Chambers and G. Gardner (Auckland), 6—2, 6—l; Misses L. Roberton and TJ. Taylor (Auckland), beat Misses M. Briggs and .T. Anderson (Victoria), 6—2, 6—4. Final: Misses Line and Longmorp Misses Roberton and Taylor. 7—9, 6—2, 6—2. Mixed Doubles.-—Semi-final: R,. McL. Ferkins and Miss V. Dyer (Victoria) beat 11. A. Small and Miss G. Calver (Otago), 7—5, 6—o; 13. A. Barrer and Miss G. Rankin (Canterbury) beat J. P. Glenie and J. Chambers (Auckland), 7—5, 6—4.
