I lie conference of the New South Wales branch of the, Australian Labour Party to-day s;ent a cablegram to Mr. de Yalcra sympathising with the Irish people in their fight Tor self-determination and promising to oppose any attempt at armed intervention in Ireland. IRISHMEN ABROAD. POLICY OF DE VALERA. ft POSITION MADE DIFFICULT. LONDON. March 21. Sir Michael O'Dwyer, in a letter to the Times states that some years ago Mr. de Yalcra claimed to bo " President of the Irish republic at home and abroad." " Has lie considered how the millions abroad will be affected by persistence in a policy which will inevitably render their position difficult and delicate? " asks the ! writer. " The present trend in the Dominions is toward strengthening the tics ! of sentiment and interest which unite them to the Crown. If the Free State adopts a policy of separation and endeavours to establish a republic, the Jrisli abroad will be associated with it. This will result in a strong counter-move. " The vast majority of the Irish in the Empire believe in the retention of the Imperial connection."-
