WOMEN'S INSTITUTES.
Mareretu. —At a meeting of the institute a prize for the best worked buttonhole was won by Mrs. Appleyard. Mrs. E'. Evans received second prize. Miss R. McCarroll gave a ta'k on "First Aid." The hostesses were Mrs. Pearce, Misses A. Edwards, 0. Lamont, N. Burko and H. Burroughs. Purua.—'The Purua Institute meeting was held at Mrs. Brown's residence. The time was occupied with slipper making. ■Mrs. Dyer and Mrs. R. Thomas were in charge of the trading table. The hostesses were Mesdames Brown, Stewart and O. Finlavson. Waipti.—The first letter from the Scottish "Link" Institute was read at a meeting of the Waipu Institute, and regular correspondence with Scotland is now being looked forward to. Mrs. J. P. McKay gave a. demonstration of glove-mak-ing and another helpful demonstration was that of making and changing a bed for a patient, with many other useful hints for home nursing, given by Nnrse Weight. Mrs. D, J. Fraser, of Whajigarci, pjnve a talk about flowers and plants' and judged the dahlia entries, the prize going to Mrs. J. P. McKay. The host esses were Mesdames L. McLcod, o. McLean, Jenkinson and Council. Woodlands.—At the monthly meeting of the institute it was decided to send Mrs Mulhern as delegate to the Bay of Plentv Federation meeting.
