"THE COW."
fTlie following essay on " The Cow " was written by a ten-year old girl, and handed in to one of our city pchoolin asters recently. And strange to say, the writer had actually lived for five years on a farm.] " A cow is a animal, and it. looks like a steer, but hasn't got horns like a steer. A cow joggs on four legs. It is used for milk and it feeds on grass and brand. We drink the milk and we eat the meat. You find cows in swamps. A cow will walk round down by swamps and find a little calf. You milk a cow about three o'clock in tiic morning and three at night. A cow chews its cud and can only swollow about four times. A cow has fur all over it and it lies on the ground when it chews. Ifc needs a big paddock to run around in You can ride a cow if you go very steady. A cow only drinks water when it wants a drink. When a cow goes to sleep it lies down on the ground and chews its cud."
