HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS.
EVENTS AT WHANGAREI. [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WHANG AREI, Friday. The Whsngarei High School boys' annual athletic sports were held in the school Grounds yesterday in perfect weather. There was a large attendance of parents, friends and old pupils. The senior championship was won by K. Given, with fjie possible of 30 points for six wins, the intermediate championship was won by A. Thomas, and the junior championship by K. Provan. The house points wore as follows.—Hawkes, 152 i; Duxfield, 143J; Smeaton, 84; Lupton, 60J. Several school records were broken. Given broke the record of 57 l-5s for tho 440 yds. senior championship, held by L. Abbott nine© 192G, Given's time being 555. R. Jounneaux took the record for throwing tho cricket ball, beating R. Tilley's record of 93yds Ift lin, created in 1924, by Sin. A further record was broken by Given, who beat E. Bird's time for 880 yds by 2s. Championship results wore:— 220 Yds. Senior.—K.
