WOMEN WORKERS.
Sir,— Why do firms employ girls to do the work of young men? Buses, trami and ferries demonstrate that girls em. ployed are in enormous preponderance to men. Why send men to swell the ranks of unemployed, who can only be a hindrar.ce to professional navvies when they can get work ? It is far better that men should be employed before women. What die g:rls do before the war? They certainly wore not employed in offices to any great extent. Lefc the Government act. Mi.ke it, under penalty, obligatory for com"paiie;;, etc., to register their staffs. FJ X a ratio of men to girls. This will solve the unemployment question. H. F. Tansley.
