EDUCATION ECONOMIES.
Sir, —May I beg space to express my consternation at the rapidly growing cut 3 and economies in the matter of education. As a parent lam filled with alarm for the future of our boys and gi -Is. Are those responsible giving sufficient thought to the future? Up to the present New Zealand has stood well to tlie fore in the educational field, and may reflect with pride on the positions of responsibility held by many 0 f 01 r New Zealand boys in various parts of the world to-day. But what of tomorrow, if these drastic economies i n education are to continue. To the onlooker it v,-ould appear that the pruning shears are being used in the wrong direction first. There are many luxuries that might be dispensed with, and economies that might be practised by the present 4 Government, but up to the moment no apparent effort has been made that way. Anxious Mother.
