BIG MEXICAN RACE.
PHAR LAP'S PROSPECTS. CONFIDENCE OF TRAINER. (Received March 15. 7.5 i» ••jp.ni.) AOUA CALIENTE. March 14. Although Phar Lap is no longer favourite for tho Agua Caliente Handicap to be run on Sunday, many previous favourites have been beaten. The record of the Australian horse normally would have made him favourite, but the shortness of his training period here, his recent injury to a hoof, also 1h ! ; fact that for tho first time he is to race on a, (rack with a left-hand turn, have somewhat detracted from his prc-race prcstipe.
Phar Lap's trainer, Woodcock, says that if tho champion is in his best form on Sunday lie will " run 'the hgs off the others."
Tho horse's pa.rt-owncr, Mr. D. .T. Davis, says: " Barring anything unforeseen Phar Lap will go to the post and give a good account of himself in the handicap."
