EXISTING CONTRACTS. AUTHORITY FOR CONTINUATION. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] "WELLINGTON, Tuesday. In a question in the House of Representatives to-day, Mr. J. O'Brien (Labour— West land) asked what was the position in regard to the cancellation of authorised Public Works.
The Minister of Public Works, the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coatcs, said where work was in hand or a contract had been let, authority to proceed would be immediately reinstated, but where contracts or commitments had not, been made, the authorities would lie subjected to careful review by himself and departmental officers before further authorities were issued.
