CLAY-BIRD SHOOTING.
AUCKLAND CLUB'S MATCHES,
Excellent weather conditions prevailed on Saturday afternoon for the fortnightly shoot of the Auckland Gun Club at Pakuranga. A 10-birds match was divided by R. H. Bartley, J. Gribble, \V. H. Hazard and E, J. Schofield, with 9 each. All shot off 16yds. The chief match was a 21-birds match for Mr. W. J. Turner's trophy, and some good shooiinc resulted. E. H. Bartley (15yds), E. J. Schofield (14yds). S. Eoberts (13yds) and "W. H. Hazard (llyds). tied, and shot of! for the trophy. Bartley and Schofield missed the 30th bird, Eoberts the 31st, Hazard getting his bird and winning. The win was very popular, as it was the first trophy Hazard has won in the club, although he has shot off ties on many occasions. A double-rise match was won by E. .T. Schofield (12y<Js), with 13 out of 14. C. E. Hodge (15yds). W. H. Hazard (12yds) and J. Gribble (llyds), each shot 12 birds. A gimcrack match was won by C. E. Hodge with the possible of 7. He started on 16yds and finished on 22.
A private match of 5 birds between E. J. Schofield and W. H. Hazard. OS 25yds., was won by Schofield by 5 to 3. Among the visitors was Mr. C. Bartley, and he congratulated the club on its grounds and appointments. The next event will be the Easter shoot for Mr. E. n. Montgomery's trophy on Wednesday week.
