RIFLE SHOOTING.
AUCKLAND CITY CLUB. Members of the City Defence Rifle Clul fired matches at 800. yards and 90Q yards at Penrose on Saturday in ideal shooting weather. H. Simmonds. who shot with remarkable skill, won the fourth trophy easily with a total of five trophy points. J. A. Spry and A. G. Hewitt, tied for second place with four points each. ' AKARANA CLUB'S MATCHES. The final shoot of the third trophy serie* by members of the Akarana Rifle Club wa» concluded on Saturday at the Penrose ransa for trophies presented by Messrs. W. B. Leyland. J. 11. Draffin and R. Wakefield. Section A competition developed into a contest between J. R. Draffin and W. Powell, the trophy bein? finally won with a margin of three points. Section B trophy concluded by a draw between A. M. Richardson and A. G. Smith, while Section C was annexed by the young and promising Mount Albert Grammar School boy, A. M. Jenkinson. Silver spoons were won by A. G. Devore, A. G. Smith' and T. Holmes. Details of the shooting are as follows: Section A (trophy presented by Mr. W B. Leyland).—W.
