TOO HOT!

Most children are scared of eating or drinking anything hot, and many will complain if their meals arc merely what we would call warm. But by accident, when their attention is often distracted at meals, they may swallow a mouthful of too hot milk. Scalds' of the tongue or the lining membrane of the mouth are painful injuries and make eating an unpleasant process. In mild cases borax has a good effect. Mix a teaspoonful with twice that quantity of powdered sugar, place on the tongue as much of the mixture as will cover a sixpence, and repeat tho dose at frequent intervals. When the throat lias been scalded dessertspoonfuls of olive oil give relief, and ice to suck is of benefit'. But should it. become difficult to breathe the doctor should be sent for at once.
