GARDEN PARTY.

HOSPITAL AUXILIARY. A garden party was held at Hounslow, Gillies Avenue, Epsom, the residence of Mrs. Alfred Kidd, yesterday afternoon in lionour of ]Nliss J. Finlayson, depot assistant and secretary of the Auckland Hospital Auxiliary, who is to be married shortly. Mrs. Kidd received the guests on tho lawn in front of the house wearing a frock of Chinese red crepe do chine inlet with beige and a ballibuntal straw hat trimmed with an appliqued medallion in front. Miss Finlayson wore salmon pink crepe de chine with pleated skirt and hat to tone. Tho guests present included the members from tho various branches of tho auxiliary. The garden was looking very picturesque, especially the spreading tree, the branches of which formed a complete summer-house. Borders of scarlet salvias made a bright note of colour against the velvety green lawns. Tea was served under the trees by the ladies committee, which comprised Mrs. Kidd (president), Mrs. A. D. Campbell, Mrs. Garlick, Mrs. Webster, Mrs. A. Evans, Mrs. It. Humphries, Mrs. Balgarnie, Mrs. A. E. Upton, Mrs. Fife, Mrs. H. Maguire. During the afternoon the presentation of an antique period chair was made to Miss Finlayson on behalf of the association by Mrs. Kidd, who spoke of the splendid work dono by Miss Finlayson in tho position of secretary and depot assistant. Dr. C. E. Maguire suitably replied for Miss Finlayson. Among those present were: Mrs. Bridgman, senr., Mrs. Maguire, Mrs. Bolitho, Mrs. E. H. Potter, Mrs. T. J. G. Neill, Mrs. Carr-Smith, Mrs. Prendergrast, Major Gordon, Mrs. John Fuller, Mrs. Kelly, Mrs. Bouisson, Mrs. Sheldon, Mrs. Duffus, Mrs. Deveraux, Mrs. Marks, Mrs. Whitehead, Mrs. Newcombe, Mrs. Val Kirk, Mrs. . Gilmour, Mrs. Tremain, Mrs. Barton, Mrs. Slater, Mrs. Patterson, Mrs. Aitchison, Mrs. Straw, Mrs. Holdsworth, Mrs. Fox, Mrs. Hankin, Mrs. Hall, Mrs. Lawford, Mrs. Seivwright, Mrs. Cutting, Mrs. Dodd, Mrs. Evenden, Mrs. Dew, Mrs. Coulter, Miss Onnond, Miss Lavers, Miss Spicer, Miss Scott, Miss E.
